Why does America want Greenland? A strategic and political analysis, what is Russia's stand on this?

Greenland is the world's largest island. It is geographically located in the continent of North America. But Denmark looks after the political, defence and foreign affairs of Greenland. It is an autonomous region of Denmark. It is not a country recognised by the United Nations. US President Donald Trump wants to capture it. What is the world's opinion on this? What does the world think ? The world should know about it in detail -

what is Greenland  (Autonomous Territory) ?

Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark. About 80% of it is covered with ice. Its capital is Nuuk. Its population is about 54000 and area is about 2166086 square kilometers. Its official language is Greenlandic and Danish. It is the largest island of the North American continent. Huge glaciers and icebergs can be seen here.

History of Greenland

The history of Greenland is connected to Arctic civilizations, European colonialism, autonomous region. Its cultural and geographical heritage makes it important in the world. In 985 AD, Eric the Red discovered Greenland. In 17th century, in 1721, Denmark-Norway claimed it and in 1814, when Denmark and Norway separated, Greenland completely came under Denmark. After this, in 1953, the world made Greenland an official part of Denmark. In 1979, it was given autonomous rule. In 2009, it got more independence, which gave it control over its internal affairs. Greenland has its own government, its own prime minister and resources. But defense, foreign and political matters are still under Denmark. America wants to occupy it. Russia has put forth its stand on this.

Greenland and the United Nations

Greenland is not recognized as an official country by the United Nations. The United Nations considers Greenland to be an autonomous region of Denmark.

America and Greenland

Relations between America and Greenland have been historically important for military and geopolitical reasons. America sees Greenland as a strategic location in the Arctic region. It wants that if Greenland comes under its control, it will be strategically and tactically strong in this region. Greenland has abundant natural resources like oil, gas, uranium. In 1946, American President Harry Truman had offered 100 million dollars to Denmark to buy Greenland but Denmark had rejected it. Now President Trump also has the same intention. He wants to make Greenland under America in some way or the other. If Greenland comes under America, the influence of China and Russia will end.

Russia's stand

Russia has a different stand on the Greenland issue. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that America has serious plans regarding Greenland. This is a matter between Denmark and America. And Russia has no role in this. President Putin's statement at this time is very important. Some experts are looking at this stance of the Russian President as an indirect support to America to move forward with its plans on Greenland.

Denmark and Greenland's stand

Denmark has officially stated on the issue of Greenland that it neither wants to sell Greenland nor does the people of Greenland wish to join the US despite America's interest in the region. The people of Denmark's autonomous region Greenland are committed to maintaining autonomy, independence and sovereignty.

Conclosion

Greenland is an autonomous region of Denmark. America wants to annex this region. America will become stronger politically and strategically if Delhi and England join America. But Denmark and its people want to keep Greenland as a health region. In the coming times, it will depend on America. Why and how does it keep Greenland with itself?
