What do we do on Navroz?

We wake up early in the morning on Navroz. We clean our houses and decorate them with rangoli and flowers. We hug people. We prepare good food at home. On this day, we decorate a 'Haft Seen' plate which is considered a symbol of good luck. We meet family and friends and congratulate each other. This Haft Seen is a display of seven symbolic items that begin with the letter "S" in Persian. Those seven items are sprouts, wheat germ halva, oleaster, vinegar, onion, garlic, and sumac. Many people prepare the Haft Seen table and then take photographs of it.
